CHATEAU DE BERNE WEDDING, FRENCH RIVIERA

If you’re dreaming of an elegant, nature-filled wedding in the South of France, Château de Berne in Flayosc is one of those places that truly feels like an experience. Set across 600 hectares of Provençal countryside, including 143 hectares of vineyards, it’s a venue where you can fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the region — from the scents of the garrigue to the soft, golden light over the vines.

In this article, I’ll share a range of tips to help you make the most of this venue, along with images from a beautiful wedding I had the pleasure of photographing there as a Provence wedding photographer. So you can better envision your own special day.

Venue Highlights

  • Location: Flayosc, Provence, France
  • Type of venue: Luxury vineyard estate / château
  • Guest capacity: Up to 130 seated (depending on space)
  • Indoor / Outdoor: Both, with multiple flexible options
  • Accommodation: 27 on-site rooms (available with full privatization)
  • Starting price: From approx. €4,800 (weekday) to €6,800 (weekend)
  • Vibe: Rustic, elegant, magnificent

One of the biggest strengths of Château de Berne is the variety of spaces, each offering a different atmosphere:

  • Jardin du Jasmin – a stunning glasshouse surrounded by greenery, perfect for up to 130 guests
  • Salle Bacchus – ideal for larger receptions, with panoramic views over the wine cellars
  • Garden theatre & water stage – a unique outdoor setting for ceremonies
  • Fountain square – a favorite for cocktails and relaxed moments
  • This flexibility allows couples to design a day that flows naturally from one space to another.

Why couples love chateau de berne

A true Provençal setting – vineyards, nature, and that unmistakable South of France atmosphere

A destination-style venue – ideal for multi-day celebrations with guests staying on-site

Multiple ceremony and reception options – from gardens to indoor spaces

Refined but relaxed elegance – luxurious without feeling overly formal

This venue is perfect for couples who want something grand, immersive, and romantic — not a small, intimate gathering.

Things to know before you book

    • Privatization is key – the estate operates as a hotel, so full exclusivity may require booking all rooms
    • On-site catering is required – you can’t bring in an external caterer
    • Bring-your-own drinks allowed – but with a corkage fee (€15 per bottle)
    • Music curfew: Events typically end around 3:00 AM
    • Accessibility: The venue is accessible for guests with reduced mobility
    • Planning tip: Because the property is so large, think carefully about guest flow — especially between ceremony, cocktail, and dinner spaces.

The best photo spots at chateau de berne

Cypress-lined driveway – one of the most iconic spots for timeless, cinematic portraits

The vineyards – especially beautiful during golden hour

The pool & surrounding gardens – perfect for cocktail and lifestyle-style images

The fountain courtyard – great for candid moments and guest interactions

Photographer tip: With 600 hectares to explore, this venue is huge. Plan extra time in your schedule just for moving between locations and scouting the best light.

    From a Photographer’s Perspective

What I love most about Château de Berne is the variety of backdrops — vineyards, cypress trees, water features, and elegant architecture all in one place.

Favorite moment: capturing a couple with a car in the cypress alley — it feels cinematic, timeless, and very “Provence.”

    Tip for photographers:
Arrive early. Walk the property. This is not a venue you want to discover last-minute — the scale alone can impact your entire timeline if you’re not prepared.
