MAS DES COSTES, PROVENCE

A lavender field, a cypress-lined path, a Provençal mas surrounded by olive trees… it doesn’t get more iconic than this for Provence. If you imagine a wedding bathed in sunlight, in a soft, timeless atmosphere, Mas des Costes ticks all the boxes.

Located in the heart of the Alpilles, this estate offers a true escape — a place where you can experience your wedding as a full weekend with your loved ones, rather than just a single day.

In this article, I’ll share plenty of tips to make the most of this venue, along with images from a beautiful wedding I had the chance to photograph there, to help you envision your own special day.

THE VENUE’S ASSETS

Location: Orgon, Alpilles (Provence, France) Type of venue: Provençal mas with private estate Guest capacity: Up to 160 guests Starting price: Rental over 3 days / 2 nights (varies by season)

Indoor/outdoor:

  • Outdoor ceremony with olive grove views
  • Cocktail and dinner outdoors (terraces + pool)
  • 160 m² barn for dancing or as a Plan B
  • 220 m² nomadic tent in case of bad weather

Accommodation: 7 rooms (18 guests) on site

Vibe: Intimate, Provençal, warm

What really sets it apart:
You can literally do everything on-site. Ceremony, dinner, party, next-day brunch. Without ever breaking the atmosphere.

WHY COUPLES LOVE MAS DES COSTES

This venue attracts couples who want an experience, not just a pretty backdrop.

  • Complete immersion in Provence (lavender, olive trees, cypresses, golden light)
  • A private 7-hectare estate offering a real sense of exclusivity
  • A perfect balance of authentic charm and chic, modern renovation
  • Varied spaces to pace the weekend (ceremony, dinner, pool party, brunch…)
  • True freedom in planning (choice of vendors, schedule, and pace)

It’s not a “bling” castle. And that’s exactly what makes it so charming.

    THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE BOOKING

Exceptional climate: About 320 days of sunshine per year — a super reliable wedding destination.

Summer heat: Some indoor areas can get hot quickly (check: barn air conditioning).

Solid Plan B: Barn + nomadic tent = true safety in case of unpredictable weather.

Freedom in planning: No mandatory vendors — but this requires a bit more organization.

Multi-day experience: The venue is designed for staying on-site, not just a one-day event.

THE BEST PHOTO SPOTS AT MAS DES COSTES

This is an incredible playground for photography, especially if you love natural, luminous atmospheres.

    The Pool & Terraces:
Perfect to capture the atmosphere — cocktails, laughter, spontaneous moments.e wisely. The estate is vast, and every spot deserves attention.

    The Cypress Path:
Clearly the signature spot. Elegant, graphic, timeless. Perfect for simple yet striking couple photos.

    The Lavender Field:
In season (usually late June to July), it’s magical. It instantly gives that “Provence” identity everyone dreams of.

    Olive Trees & Panoramic Views:
Ideal for ceremonies and quiet moments. Creates very organic images.

    Best light:
Late afternoon, when the light softens and turns golden. Clearly the time to prioritize for portraits.

    FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER’S PERSPECTIVE

What I love here is the feeling of being completely elsewhere. You’re in the middle of nature, without distractions, with incredible light from morning to evening.

Everything is close by, which allows for a smooth, natural pace — and in photography, that makes all the difference.

One of my favorite moments is still a couple walking down the cypress path at the end of the day. Nothing staged — just them, the light, and that amazing setting.

    Tip:
Make sure to schedule a sunset photo session… and don’t skip drone shots. The estate takes on a whole new dimension from the air.
